this week we shared some great news with our facebook friends that we're moving into toronto! we love living and working in niagara, so clearly we'll be staying in our studio here. the vineyards and gorgeous hotels in niagara have become a great destination for out of town couples-a good number of them are from toronto. so to accommodate, as of april 1st, 2012 you'll be able to visit us at 147 liberty street. i took a little walk around the neighbourhood this afternoon...

we're so excited to be moving in here! stay in touch via twitter and facebook to follow our toronto office updates!
the amount of prettiness you're about to take in is almost overwhelming... top off this incredibly designed wedding by mimosa and add to it two ridiculously amazing people and you have an event to remember! thank you for having us capture your wedding day ariel and andrew-it was such a fun weekend!
if a few of these images look familiar to you it's because the lovely people at Style Me Pretty featured this wedding in the fall -you can have a look at that here. but i wanted to share a few more images from this gorgeous august day in twenty valley at inn on the twenty for a couple madly in love. when i read their love story i knew we'd be a great fit! I've shared their love story before...but enjoy their proposal story just one more time:
'While completing a practicum in a cardiac rehabilitation facility Andrew often asked his patients, “what is the key to a happy marriage?” On one occasion, an older gentleman who had been married for nearly 50 years replied “I wake up every morning and make my wife a pot of coffee”.

On the morning of Sunday August 22, 2010 Andrew awoke at the crack of dawn with Ripley (our then 4 month old puppy) while Ariel slept in. When Ariel finally woke up and came downstairs, un-showered, teeth not yet brushed, wearing oversized brightly colored striped PJ pants, a pot of hot coffee was waiting on the table. Andrew reached over and poured her a cup and said “I’d really like to wake up every morning and make my wife a pot of coffee!” To which Ariel naturally replied “Well then you had better propose to me!!” Andrew laughed and replied “What do you think I am trying to do here?” After what seemed like an eternity, it finally sunk in that he was not kidding and was actually proposing, the tears began to flow. Andrew had pulled off the perfect proposal!!!

You might need to ask Andrew some of these things…what made him fall in love with me? I would like to say my amazing personality and cooking skills, oh and the graceful way I shattered both of his wine glasses the first night I cooked him dinner. Yep, that sealed the deal! As for me, I fell in love with his sense of humor and his smile first and the big blue eyes didn’t hurt! He makes me laugh constantly. He drives me insane and does it just to see me react (which I always do), he has made the goofy/nerdy side of me come out in ways it never has before. He has allowed me to love deeper than I ever imagined. He constantly confuses me. He makes me think about things that I would never have thought to consider on my own, and then keeps his own thoughts internal which makes me crazy and keeps me wanting more. He is strong and smart and gentle and sexy!! And above all else he will be an amazing husband and wonderful father (once he gets over his fear of babies). He allows me to be myself and loves me because of my faults not in spite of them. And as much as he wants success for himself he wants it for me and for us even more. I couldn’t ask for more…well except maybe an extension on our 55 year (now down to our last 52 almost 51 year) contract!'
the weather was kind to us-although the ceremony was moved inside at the vineyard retreat because of rain showers...we were able to get outside for a few pictures before the reception! the flowers and the styling were all dreamed up and created by mimosa flower studio here in niagara. the props were courtesy of the warehouse- a new rental service in niagara-on-the-lake. for out of town guests it's especially wise to hire a planner-we had the pleasure of working with Jaime from Blue Print Events -Andrew and Ariel were visiting us from Chicago.
one of my most favourite cakes-ariel and andrew's favourite books... created by vineyard sweets.
ariel and andrew-you are lovely! i know that niagara has a sweet spot in your hearts and this is not the last we'll be seeing of you-visit again soon!
and we look forward to celebrating a few more weddings in jordan village this summer! if you're planning a wedding from out of town and wondering where to start-check out the swish list- a local wedding directory of fabulous wedding vendors right here in niagara!

along a street lined with shoppes and galleries we found this hidden treasure while visiting miami last fall. we wandered into a gallery to find a community of artists-door after door, small spaces used as working studios. we chatted with a few of the artists about their community-talked about how inspiring it must be to work with other creatives. enjoy a few images from our visit...

and this is how we end a gallery tour...

while i'm not part of a physical cooperative of artists... i'm privileged to be part of a community of photographers that meet regularly. this monday i'm looking forward to meeting up with a few photographers...80 0f them! from the hamilton niagara ppo branch for one of our socials! so excited to be inspired and to catch up with friends!!
in other news, our branch hosted a ppo (professional photographers of ontario) banquet and accreditation judging... in short, it's a weekend to celebrate great photographers who've one awards for their images and to have your work judged by ppoc photographers. i was awarded accreditation in the category for wedding environmental and will proudly wear the ppoc badge-you can check it out on my contact page!
stay tuned... i have a a gorgeous wedding coming to the blog later today-it is packed full of all things beautiful and unique!
mark and jennifer came over for dinner about seven, maybe eight years ago. they came to the door, mark with a gorgeous bouquet of flowers and his lovely wife jennifer-and i knew right then...that they were keepers. ; ) recently, i found out that the last time they had been photographed was on their wedding day and insisted they get in front of the camera again. so much has changed since then... better, worse, sickness and health, you know... life. and through it all... love. mark is jennifer's biggest fan... he's so proud of her. jennifer adores him just as much. they're amazing together-quite a team. mark spends his down time on the guitar... or the piano- he's so gifted. jennifer is a creator of beautiful things-an artist of many mediums. their home...a lovely unique reflection of them. i imagine this is how they spend their days off... chatting in the window seat, dreaming, playing the guitar...serving the best coffee to drop in guests...
love the way they laugh together.
mark and jennifer... thanks for letting me drop in with my camera. so happy you're in my life-and i wish you a lifetime of love!
