They met at Queen's University and have been together ever since... for over ten years. You can imagine their family doing the happy dance when they announced their engagement and when I met with Simon's mom about photographing their wedding it was evident that they were planning the most perfect day for their kids. And it was perfect... clears skies and all! Top 5 favourite things about this wedding... 1) the sunshine-the last few weddings I have photographed at the Inn on the Twenty had been rainy ones...so I was thrilled to see an outdoor ceremony in the vineyard once again. 2) Kristin's dress was perfectly beautiful... wish i could descrbe it more creatively but the dress was soooo her! 3) the florals created by fleurish were rustic and gorgeous and a lot of them grown here in Niagara... brilliant. 4) being hard core hockey fans... they drank niagara wine from a stanley cup and made their ceremony uniquely their own 5) Simon's mom and Kristin danced to 'here's to you Mrs. Robinson'
All in all a fabulous celebration and we're grateful to have been invited to document the wedding story! Enjoy a few of our favourites from the day...
'I think it’s fair to say that a romance was sparked while in that Danish basket-making class a decade ago. She still has her first basket, and I am impressed with the level of her skill, right from the start. It’s a really nice basket! Talking to Lene today at her willow farm on Lake Erie, I practically see hearts and stars in her eyes when she talks about making baskets.' -Jennifer Elliotson
Last year we visited Lene to learn about the process of making a basket... You can read the original article written by Jennifer Elliotson. These are a few photos from the most recent photography session with Lene.
Beth is the creator of Sweetie Pies Bakery. it must have been about 6 years ago that i was shooting an august wedding-peach season-and for dessert they served the most mouth watering, delicious peach pie. i raved about this peach pie to everyone. it. was. DELISH! years later, when i met beth, i learned she was the maker of this pie. mind blown. (i continue to blame her for my addiction)
this is a sweet little shoot for her other label: Niagara Jam Co. If you're looking for these fine foods as well as her pies and tarts you'll need to visit the St. Catharines Farmer's Market on Saturday mornings and Fridays at her bakery.
and in her spare time...she makes this fabulous handmade soap. i've recently spotted this at the craft arts market in downtown St. Catharines...
have a fabulous long weekend friends!
my commercial work is very happy-it has it's own space here on the NWP+C website! we love photographing weddings and couples madly in love and when i'm not at a wedding you can find me hleping local buinesses with their photos-it may be product, the business space or a business portrait if your website needs new imagery please let me know how we can help. enjoy this little feature from one of our latest shoots.
i'd still consider myself the new kid on the block as we've recently moved from the quiet neighbourhood in Vineland to a very busy and colourful neighbourhood in downtown st. catharines. a few of my favourites things about being in the city so far: visiting the market, walking to do errands... the beautiful noise of festival weekends! we're still exploring and finding favourite restaurants and cafes. last fall i enjoyed a beautiful evening with friends at la scala and i was super excited when they contacted me about shooting for their new website!
a gem of a restaurant on queen street in st. catharines serving up authentic italian cuisine... by authentic i mean the owner, Joe, has his own olive tree in the backyard. we had the pleasure of sampling most of the menu and will be frequent visitors! special thank you carolee, my food stylist extraordinaire who helped with this shoot.
my beautiful niece celebrating a major milestone. prom! congratulations maddie. xo
