october 6 was a beautiful day.... the chill of autumn had settled in, the trees were turning colour...and the sun was shining.

for the koornneef and cook family it was a beautiful day because jess and brian were exchanging their vows. Jessica and Brian viewed their film this week and sent a little love note over:
'Brian and I both loved the the video so much and I can't wait to share it with family and friends! I even cried...(Aunt) Diane always says, it's not good unless you cry...

these two aren't strangers to the blog and we've so enjoyed getting to know them! this afternoon i messaged Phil + Cathy that this weekend would be a great one to take in a movie... love stories are the best:

in this movie, Phil... a 'crazy in love' guy... gets the girl of his dreams!
'this is true love...'
visit again next week and we'll have a few images of Phil and Cathy's beautiful toronto wedding to show you! stay warm and cozy friends!
Chris and Kendra were great fun to work with! There were stories throughout the day that I knew were going to make it to the highlights film-stories that would best represent their spontanaeity and outgoing personalities. Kendra lost her veil and 'called an audible' having her dad run back to the car to get it for the ceremony! Dancing snowmen appeared at the reception-an inside family joke. Typically we don't produce stories but we had time at the beginning of the dance that allowed us to get outside and light the street and their bedroom window for an epic closing shot. When the couple came outside with their sparklers we were ready to film. This scene also gave us the opportunity to film the bride in her 2nd dress. We couldn't have done it so quick and seamless without Chris and Kendra's walkie talkies!
Congrats Chris and Kendra! It was a pleasure filming your wedding! Cheers!

our highlights films are a collection of moments. some of the moments are quiet-a gift exchange or a look between mother and son... some are more obvious-a kiss at the ceremony or the first dance. these captured moments are then carefully weaved together to create a a short story-the love story of a wedding day. you've seen geoff and loretta's pictures and maybe you've watched their teaser film... today we're so excited to share their highlights film with you... pour yourself a cup tea and take that afternoon break you deserve... enjoy!

Because we drove to Pennsylvania, we were able to bring down more equipment than we normally would to capture a destination wedding. We used a 5ft Kessler Cineslider for a few establishing and detail shots and for the most past, we used a 70-200 on a monopod and a 17-35 on a GlideCam for the rest. Nice and simple.

Folly:
I recorded most of the folly used during the wedding day with a Zoom h4n. During the thunder showers I escaped outside to grab a few minutes of the storm which I ended up using at 4:31 and 5:51. In addition to adding ambience, I beefed up the glass clinking at 4:01, piano playing at 5:14 and the thunder strike at 5:54.
Post Editing:
Most of the soundtracks used have been ripped apart, sections lengthened, shorted and moved around. At 0:57 I took a liberty by holding on the dress a few beats longer. I achieved this by adding a reverb as I quickly faded the soundtrack which allowed the last note to ring out for as long as I needed.
The weather played a significant part in telling the story of this day, so when the rain finally came, I felt like it needed a subtle change in feel. In addition to adding the rain foley, at 4:32 I introduced a drum loop that I created to give the illusion of time dragging for a measure.
At 5:32 I decided to throw the soundtrack through a bunch of filters to dirty it up a bit… as the scene called for. lol
continued love and happiness to you both!
