Being one of the first vendors that a couple will meet with, I often chat about timelines with them. Especially if the couple isn’t working with a planner. But even so, a basic timeline will give the bride and groom a starting point so they can continue dreaming about and making plans for their wedding day.
I went back into the archives a bit to dig out this itinerary because I remember this day being super relaxed and I had plenty of time to photograph portraits and details. It might have had a little bit to do with the couple being super chill and the vibe for their wedding being 'a big group hug' with family and friends. They were also really organized and communicated really well with everyone involved throughout the entire process. I think they had a pretty solid itinerary, left plenty of transition time between events on the day of and enough time for pictures.
Your planner may guide you to have a different itinerary for your day and you may want to cut a few things or rearrange the events from this one, but as I said, if you’re wanting a starting point, here’s a good little timeline that you might be interested in referencing while starting to make plans.

Things to note: We didn’t leave the wedding venue on the day of the wedding-both parties got ready on site; ceremony and reception were all done at one location so the couple saved time on commuting. This was a Jewish Wedding so there were two ceremonies, so just adjust where needed.
Also, I really like to steal the newly weds away around sunset, weather permitting. Just for a quick 10-15 minute session. A great idea if you’re a couple that wants to be at the Cocktail reception- skip to cocktails but schedule 15 minutes between courses and toasts for a sunset walk-you will LOVE the warm look of this session!
